Pitti Immagine Uomo has kicked off (from June 12 to 15). The event makes Florence one of the fashion capitals – at least in the menswear sector – with events scattered throughout the city.
It is one of the (various) reasons of the event’s success – explains Agostino Poletto, General Director of Pitti Immagine: «Pitti is today an international platform that, no longer confined within the Fortezza da Basso, livens the city up with a series of events. It is no longer a fair, and not even a fashion week. We’ve left behind elements that have been conceived as outdated and replaced them with a combination that is actually achieving a resounding success. We work endlessly at the event, because men’s style is in continuous evolution – says Poletto. – Hence, the P.O.P. Pitti Optical Power, theme is a spur to perceive new horizons, to look under a new point of view.
For the first time an Arena is to be set, a sharing space where the audience can take part in a series of Talk shows». Another must-see is the “I Go Out” project: «The outdoor clothing as well as the man/nature relationship are to be analyzed in the Ronda pavilion, a large 900-square-meter ‘campsite’»; various events are set on the bill outside the Fortezza: the “Fanatic Feelings” exhibition, focused on the relationship between fashion and the world of football (open until July 22), The Birkenstock’s event, the Moncler Genius project by Hiroshi Fujiwara, that celebrated Herno’s 70th anniversary”. Guest stars of the event: designer Craig Green, Paul Surridge for Roberto Cavalli and Project Designer Fumito Ganryu.
